Abstract: In 1980s, the technique of placing porcelain- fused- to- metal restorations spread in dentistry. The single crown and bridge restorations consisted of non- precious alloys such as Ni- Cr alloys are widely used due to superior aesthetic appearance and good mechanical properties. However, fracture of the porcelain has occurred in function because of the porcelain brittle, tooth preparation, laboratory mistakes and so on. One option is to remake the restoration itself, which is both costly and time consuming. An alternative method is to repair the deficiency using one of the bonding systems and composite resins. This article is to review the clinical application of porcelain repair techniques.
