Abstract: As a new and non-invasive method for oral biomechanical research, finite element method is an effective tool for dental researchers. As developments in materials and technologies increase, post-and-core restoration has become a common approach for tooth conservation in treating massive dental destruction. However,Results for stress distribution of post-and-core restoration under functional states remain controversial. This article is a brief review of some applications of finite element method in studying post-core-crown restoration, as well as a discussion of the related factors that affect outcomes.

Key words: post-core-crown, finite element method, stress analysis
