Steve G.F. SHEN received his DDS from Zhejiang Medical University in 1984, and his MD from Shanghai Second Medical University in 1991. He is currently academic chair and professor of the Department of Oral and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery, Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Director of Faculty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dean of Shanghai Jiao Tong University College of Stomatology, member of The Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and member of the National Steering Committee for Medical Professional Degree Education. He is also vice president of Chinese Stomatological Association, standing member of Chinese Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, councilor and education committee member of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS), fellow of International College of Dentists (FICD), president of Shanghai Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, president of Shanghai Society of Stomatological Biomedical Engineering, president of Shanghai Society of Digital Medicine, as well as vice editor-in-chief or an editorial board member or peer-reviewer for the following journals: China journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Chinese Journal of Stomatology, Chinese Journal of Reparative and Reconstructive Surgery, Chinese Journal of Practical Stomatology, Chinese Journal of Stomatological Research ( electronic version ), Biomaterials and so on.

His main interests include oral and maxillofacial surgery, especially in plastic and aesthetic reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, distraction osteogenesis, navigation-guided surgery, minimally invasive surgery (MIS), clefts surgery and craniofacial development in both basic and clinical studies. He setup a research laboratory for digital cranio-maxillofacial surgery and pioneered a surgical designing platform for cranio-maxillofacial health care service in Shanghai. He contributed three books as editor-in-chiefs, one book as a vice editor-in-chief, as well as a number of chapters in 9 professional books. He published 295 papers in both Chinese and international journals.
