Clinical effect observation of improved aesthetic clasp in distal-extension prosthesis

Abstract: Objective To compare the clinical effect of RPI and improved esthetic clasps in distal-extension prosthesis. Methods A total of 84 cases of patients with distal-extension prosthesis are to be chosen and randomly divided into two groups: RPI clasp repair group and modified esthetic clasp repair group. The repair effects of the two methods are to be compared via questionnaires after 1, 3, and 6 months. Results No statistically significant differencewas observed in terms of the masticatory function, retention, stabilization, and food impaction. However, in terms of appearance and comfort, the improved esthetic clasp group is evidently better than the RPI group(P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with the traditional RPI removable partial denture, the improved esthetic clasp denture can provide better esthetic repair effects and comfort for patients with distal-extension prosthesis, which will ensure that the needs of the patients are well attended to.
