Abstract: Objective To compare the anesthetic effect of maxillary anesthesia on tooth extraction and to explore the possibility of maxillary tooth extraction without anesthetizing palatine side. Methods 700 cases needed extracting maxillary tooth were randomly divided into two groups:Experimental group(500 cases) and control group(200 cases). The experimental group was only anesthetized on malar side while the control group was anesthetizedwith conventional anesthesia method. Anesthetic effects of two groups were compared. Results 1) There was statistic significance in pain during anesthetics injection between the two groups(P<0.05). 2)But there was no difference in pain during tooth extraction. Conclusion To anesthetize malar side only during maxillary tooth extraction can get good anesthetic effect, with no need to anesthetize palatine side.
