Abstract: Tissue engineering technique has been commonly used in repairing temporomandibular joint disc defect in recent years. Nevertheless, more attention should be paid on the histological structure and biological characteristic of the disc during the restoration. This paper reviews the fundamental research on the temporomandibular joint disc.
