Abstract: Objective The aim of this study was to compare and analyse the unstimulated saliva flow rate(SFr)and saliva glucose mass concentration(SGc) in the diabetic and the healthy elders. Methods The study comprised randomly sampled 20 type 2 diabetic aged in patients from West China Hospital of Sichuan University(diabetic group), 20 age- and gender- matched healthy aged people(control group). Saliva was tested for unstimulated flow rate and glucose mass concentration. Results There were no significant differences in SFr between the diabetic and control group(P>0.05). The diabetic group had statistically higher SGc than the control(P<0.05). Conclusion The saliva glucose mass concentration of aged diabetic people increases, compared with the healthy.
